"The objective of the selling mission is to help Indonesian food and beverage producers penetrate the potential business partner networking (customs brokers, importers, wholesalers and distributors) in Canada and the United States to lay a basis for long-term and sustainable cooperation," he said.
The Indonesian food and beverage will be put in display at Salon International de l'Alimentation (SIAL) expo in Toronto from April 30 to Mei 2. SIAL expo is one of the leading food and beverage exhibitions in North America.
A total of 675 participants from 45 countries took part in the SIAL expo last year, attracting 13,952 buyers from 60 countries. The number of buyers is expected to increase to 14,000 from 60 countries this year.
The Indonesian products to be displayed at the expo have been adjusted to the characteristics of the local market, including consumers' growing awareness of natural and organic products, the director of the ministry's promotion and image development, Pradnyawati, said.
She said the Canadian market is a suitable starting point to expand the market of Indonesia's natural and organic products including to the US.
The US is one of the main markets of Indonesia's foods and beverages. Last year, Indonesia exported US$491.2 million worth of foods and beverages to the US, making it the second biggest export destination.(S012)
