Langka (Antara) - Police in Langkat, North Sumatra, have nabbed a man identified as Agustiar Monas Situmorang (27) in possession of 20 kilograms of marijuana .
Agustiar, who lived at Jalan Gurun Laweh, sub-district of Lubuk Begalung, Padang was arrested when he was on a bus at the Pasar X Tanjung Beringin terminal in Langkat on his way from Aceh to Padang, head of the drug unit of Langkat police Adj. Com. Muhammad Yunus Tarigan, said in Stabat on Friday.
"That time police were launching raid on all buses from Aceh at the terminal,and the suspect was found carrying 20 kg of the illicit drug," Tarigan said.
Police also confiscated a hand phone and Rp600,000 in cash as evidence. The suspect , if found guilty, would face a jail term of up to 20 years.
In Riau, two farmers, identified as AM and SW were arrested separately by police for possession of 2.4 grams and 1.68 grams of methamphetamine respectively.
AM was nabbed after selling the illicit drug at Jalan Siak in the Langkah village, sub-district of Siak, head of the drug unit of the Siak police Adj. Com. Herman Pelani said on Friday.
AM told police he bought the drug from someone named Berto in Pekanbaru, and that he had sold part of the drug he bought to a man identified as SW.
Police then picked SW from his house in the village of Tuah Indrapura, and found 1.68 grams of methamphetamine in his possession.
In Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, two men were arrested on charge of trading in narcotics, police said.
"On tip from local people, we caught two men , ZM (21) and AM (33) on drug charge," head of the drug unit of Banjarmasin police Com. Herry Purwanto said in Banjarmasin on Friday.
They were caught red handed in transaction with 1.01 gram of methamphetamine as evidence and a cash of Rp170,000, Herry said, adding police received information from local people about the transaction.
The two suspects lived at Jalan Kertak Baru, sub-district in Banjarmasin (AS)
