Langkat, North Sumatra, March 19 (Antara) - A number of villages in the regency of Langkat, North Sumatra have not been covered by the electrification program, a local lawmaker said.

With no street illuminations those villages easily become criminal targets, deputy chairman of the Commission D of the district legislative assembly Rahmanuddin Rangkuti said in Stabat, on Monday after a hearing with the branch of the state-owned electricity company PT PLN Cabang Binjai-Langkat.

"Certainly this should not be allowed to continue. That is why we invited PLN to discuss that matter and see what PLN could do about that," Rangkuty said.
Head of the PLN branch for Binjai-Langkat Lelan Hasibuan said in 2019, PLN hopes to finish electrification of all villages in Langkat.

This year, PLN plans to finish electrification of a number of the villages in the district, Lelan said.
