Medan  (Antaranews Sumut) - Indonesian athletes with disabilities, who have been trained by the National Paralympic Committee, are ready to participate in the Asian Paragames on October 6-12, 2018, in Jakarta.

Sport Expert of the Indonesia Asia Paragames Organizing Committee August Ferry Raturandang noted here on Friday that his side had recently visited Solo where the national training camp for the Indonesian Paragames athletes is being held.

During his visit to Solo, his side met the coach and athletes of the Swimming, Athletics, Table Tennis, Tennis Wheelchairs, Weightlifting, Wheelchair Basketball, Fencing, Lawn Bowl, Badminton, Chess, and Sitting Volleyball sports.

Raturandang stated that the athletes appeared enthusiastic despite fasting and having lack of training facilities.

The current shortage is a classic problem, which is related to training equipment. However, it is only a matter of time to be realized after the disbursement of funds for the purchase of equipment.

"The athletes are aware of the problem, and thank you for having devised ways to train by making their own equipment," he remarked.

According to Raturandang, the athletes are targeting to win 19 gold medals, 15 silver, and 10 bronze.

"The effective implementation of the games should also be a forerunner to successful achievements by Indonesian athletes with disabilities. The government`s support is also quite huge by offering rewards to medalists in line with the achievements of Asian Games athletes 2018," he added.
