Surabaya, E Java, May 24 (Antara) - The Indonesian Military (TNI) has ordered new armaments it will exhibit in its 69th Anniversary Day on October 5, 2014.

"We have schedule that the new armaments will come to Indonesia earlier next year and which would be exhibited at the Navy's Eastern Fleet base in Surabaya," TNI Commander Admiral Agus Suhartono told journalists here on Friday.

He said Indonesia will get some armaments such as F-16 aircraft, Tank Battle Mac, aircraft and Landing Ship Tank (LST) from Indonesia's shipbuilding firm PAL and a frigate ship from Britain.

"TNI also will add some Hercules airplanes. Now we have ten and next we will have 14 Hercules," he said.

He added, TNI will test and evaluate the new armaments.

Agus said the planned new armaments are in accordance with TNI's minimum strength requirements.

Indonesian Military exhibited some armaments on TNI Joint Exercise 2013.

The Indonesia Military's current armaments included 14 Scorpio Tanks, 5 Stormer Apc, 2 Stormer Co tanks, 13 Amx tanks, 21 cannons, 12 Mi 17 helicopters, 12 Bel helicopters, 3 Bolco, 36 Navy Vessels, 3 CASA airplane, 5 SU 27/30 airplane, 5 Hawk SPO airplane and 5 unit F-16.

On the occasion, Agus said the joint exercise was well carried out. "No injured soldiers and no damaged or lost armaments."
"The exercise could lift the TNI soldiers' abilities and testing their skills efficiently."
"The joint exercise was a preparation from us ahead of the stability and security challenges," Agus Suhartono said. (A061)
