Langkat (Antaranews Sumut) - Langkat police have foiled traffic in marijuana and arrested a number of suspects in a raid over the past week.
The suspects planned to send the illicit drug from Aceh to a number of cities in Sumatra including Medan, Pekan Baru and Padang, Langkat police chief Adj.Sr.Com. Dede Rojudin said here on Tuesday.
Dede said one of the suspects Agustiar Monas Situmorang was arrested at a bus terminal in Pasar X of Tanjung Beringin in the sub-district of Hinai with 20 kilograms of marijuana.
Another suspect Hasaa Zakaria was arrested with 13 kilograms of marijuana, which was about to be distributed in Medan. Hasaa was picked up by police from a bus in Sei Karang Stabat.
Two other suspects were arrested later including Ibrahim and Sudirman. Ibrahim, who was on a bus on his way to Pekan Baru was arrested with 20 kg of marijuana and Sudirman was nabbed with 31 kg of the illegal drug.
Dede Rojudin said the district police had also arrested methamphetamine courier and dealer Dori Andrean and Amriadi in the sub-district of Stabat.
Police confiscated 16.12 grams of methamphetamine from the two suspects to be sold in that area.
Another methamphetamine courier identified as SUL was nabbed in a raid when he was on his way in a bus to Medan. Police seized 217 gr of the illicit drug from the suspect.
Meanwhile, in Bali, a drug suspect Diky Hairul Fari (22) was facing a five year jail term when the Denpasar prosecutor charged him with possession of methamphetamine.
Diky, who was a travel agent driver, was charged with drug trafficking after police caught him red handed selling 0.46 gram of the illicit to a man identified as Catur, who was still at large.
The Denpasar district court also is trying a suspect Made Abidin Pratama (23) who was charged with drug abuse.
The court prosecutor asked the court to punish Made with a 3.5 years imprisonment for consuming 0.71 gram of methamphetamine. (AS/a014)
